INDIA INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR 2007 (IITF)

India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), New Delhi has been organizing India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi every year during Nov. 14-27. Different states of India are participating in this fair presenting the development with a focus on specific theme as given by ITPO through their state pavilions. For 2007, the theme was Processed Food & Agro Industries. Government of Gujarat assigned the responsibilities to coordinate all the activities of this exhibition to iNDEXTb. Gujarat Pavilion was very well conceptualized and designed covering all the aspects related to the theme.

On the left side of the façade, the concept of Yugpurush – Lord Krishna who pioneered the movement of White Revolution in Mathura and this legacy was carried forward in Gujarat till this time was amply demonstrated by 3-D models. Later Lord Krishna migrated to the Western part of India and founded Swarnanagari Dwarika by reclaiming the land from sea. The main gate of the Pavilion represented the replica of Swarnanagari Dwarika Palace denoting the prosperity of Gujarat. On the right façade, an interactive 3-D model depicting the manufacturing activities superimposing the concept of GARVI GUJARAT to represent Growth, Agriculture, Resources, Vibrancy and Industry were impressively displayed. Inside the pavilion, panels depicting the leading brands of processed food being manufactured in Gujarat and the maritime trade potential of seacoast of Gujarat were shown. A happy kisan family in the form of a 3-D model with bustling panchayat bhavan were exhibited. Other panels included; agro profile, manufacture of implements, jatropha cultivation, value chain of products like potato, cotton, mango and castor were displayed impressively. The basic ingredients required for processed food like sugar, salt and milk were also displayed. Famous Dandi March of 1930 led by Mahatma Gandhi was exhibited prominently linking it with the production of salt in Gujarat. Again, flower cultivation like jasmine, rose, sunflower, marigold etc. was displayed effectively enticing an investor to Gujarat. In the processed food area, horticulture, dairy industry, spices, sweets, oil, floriculture, herbal medicine, etc. were impressively displayed with the help of large translites. A picturesque site with the sound of the fall of Sardar Sarovar Dam with mirror was also created. A panel showing Sardar Patel, addressing the first ever rally of farmers after independence was shown to represent him as the son of a farmer sowing the seeds of unified India. On the exit gate, a panel blending glimpses of Gujarat highlighting the vibrancy, festivals, monuments, religious places, haveli, cuisines, sanctuaries, etc was impressively designed and displayed representing rich culture of Gujarat.

In Hall No. 18 at Pragati Maidan, 300 sq mtrs of space was booked to develop 50 stalls to Gujarat-based artisans of handloom and handicraft items to promote these products at the national and international level. During the course of the fortnight, the artisans have made brisk business.

On the whole, participation in IITF 2007 afforded a good opportunity to the State in projecting the progress made by it all these years in the field of Processed Food & Agro Industries.
