Amendment in Financial Assistance For Upgradation of quality in the

SSI/Medium & Large Scale Sector

CORRIGENDUM

The Government of Gujarat have announced the new scheme for upgradation of quality in SSI sector, under Government Resolution dated 31st March 1997 referred in preamble. Government have been encouraging Small Scale Industries to improve the quality of their products. Under this  scheme the SSI unit incurring expenditure on the items in para 4 (i), (ii), (iii), (iv), (v), (vi), (vii) & (viii) in  Government Resolution referred to in preamble are entitled to reimbursement upto 50% of total expenditure subject to maximum limit of Rs.1 lakh (Rupees one lakh only) from the State Government of Gujarat.

Government is pleased to substitute the following provisions in the Resolution dated 31st March, 1997 cited above.

3.                  The scheme is applicable to all industrial units which have been registered as a SSI/SSEB with respective DICs or/and industries registered under Industries (Development & Regulation) Act, 1951 as amended from time to time with respect to licensing policy.

4.                  Eligible expenditure, nature and quantum of assistance.

(A)           An eligible unit incurring expenditure on the following items shall be entitled to reimburse upto 50% of the total expenditure subject to maximum limit of Rs.2 lakhs (Rupees lakhs only) from the State Government.

(i)               Cost of acquiring equipments required for testing and R&D connected with quality upgradationa nd acquisition of quality marks.

(ii)       Consultancy fee, if it is required to be paid to R&D institutions/firms.

(B)      The unit setting up a testing house for its own purposes  or for lending services to other industries shall be entitled to reimburse 50% of total expenditure on equipments subject to a maximum Rs.2 lakhs.

(C)              The units which have availed of financial assistance for ISI will be entitled for ISO 9000 also.

(D)     The total financial assistance under the scheme sanctioned by the State Government as well as the Government of India shall not exceed the total expenditure incurred by the unit.

5.                  Procedure:- A unit intending to take benefit from the above scheme shall have to apply to the Industries Commissioner with an estimate of cost intended to be incurred. The Industries Commissioner after scrutinising the eligibility of the items of expenses shall give an approval in principle subject to nature and quantum of assistance laid down in para (4) above. However, the actual disbursement of the amount shall be made after acquisition of the quality mark and production of a statement of expenditure certified by a Chartered Accountant to the effect that the items of expenditure conform to those laid down in the scheme. The Industries Commissioner will be entitled to call for bills if so required. Moreover, the Industries Commissioner will be entitled to call for bills if so required. Moreover, the Industries Commissioner will work out detailed, modalities of the scheme if necessary.
